Teacher of English
York High School

York High School is looking to appoint an inspirational teacher with a proven record of outstanding practice to work within our English teaching team.

The English team is well resourced with a considerable range of textbooks, a substantial media library, wide range of subject-based software and online teaching and learning resources. We also have an excellent Learning Resource Centre, which supports the teaching and learning of our pupils.

The successful candidate must have the ability to teach across the age and ability range, and inspire, motivate and challenge young people. They will also have excellent interpersonal skills and be committed to contributing to the personal development of all the young people we teach.

York High is a mixed 11–16 school serving a genuinely comprehensive intake. The last 4 years have seen rapid and sustained change with the school earning a ‘good’ judgement from Ofsted in September 2022. You would be joining a school with a commitment to excellent pastoral care and to maximising the potential of all of our students. In addition, the Trust offers a range of staff benefits, including enrolment in the excellent Teachers’ Pension Scheme, 24/7 access to an employee assistance programme and a range of family friendly policies.

We would strongly encourage any prospective candidate to visit the school. Please email Dawn Becton at d.becton@yorkhigh.southbank.academy if you would like to arrange a visit to the school.
