Headteacher: Mr Rod Sims

York High School was formed in 2007 by the merger of two secondary schools and serves the communities of west York. It provides education to nearly 750 young people from age 11 to 16. York High is very proud of its enrichment programme and the opportunities to access many different trips.

The RAS values are at the heart of the school.  They stand for:

  • Resilience
  • Aspiration
  • Success

We want all of our students to be respectful, confident and empowered.

York High School was the first Stonewall Champion School in York and is proud of its work on improving tolerance and caring for others.

Mr Sims began teaching at the school in 2008 and became Headteacher in 2017. The school was placed in Special Measures by Ofsted in 2017 and since then has worked relentlessly to restore its “Good” rating.
