York High School is looking to appoint an inspirational teacher with a proven record of outstanding practice, or the potential to become outstanding with our support, to work within our Geography teaching team.
Geography is a popular subject with a good uptake at GCSE and consistently improving results. The team currently consists of a subject leader and two other specialists who all teach across the age and ability range. At KS3, students cover the National Curriculum with a mixture of human and physical topics of study. At GCSE, the students follow the AQA specification with an opportunity to go on a residential to Kingsway Outdoor Centre in the summer term of Year 10.
The successful candidate must have the ability to teach across the age and ability range, and inspire, motivate and challenge young people. They will also have excellent interpersonal skills and be committed to contributing to the personal development of all the young people we teach.
Applications from newly qualified teachers would be very welcome.
York High is a mixed 11–16 school serving a genuinely comprehensive intake. The last 4 years have seen rapid and sustained change with the school earning a ‘good’ judgement from Ofsted in September 2022. You would be joining a school with a commitment to excellent pastoral care and to maximising the potential of all of our students. In addition, the Trust offers a range of staff benefits, including enrolment in the excellent Teachers’ Pension Scheme, 24/7 access to an employee assistance programme and a range of family friendly policies.
We would strongly encourage any prospective candidate to visit the school. Please email Dawn Becton at email@example.com if you would like to arrange a visit to the school.
