Job Title – Finance Officer
The South Bank Multi Academy Trust is seeking to appoint a Finance Officer to work in its central services team for an immediate start
You will be a confident, positive individual with a flexible attitude to provide a wide range of operational finance support to the schools in the trust and the trust leadership
Department – Central Services
Salary Range – Grade 7, £23,381 – £25,826 (£21,133 – £23,343 pro rata for term time plus three weeks, 37 hours per week)
⦁ Lead the operational finance processes within the South Bank Multi Academy Trust (MAT), taking responsibility for key day to day processes
⦁ Provide an efficient and effective financial service to the MAT schools
⦁ Support the Trust Principal, Chief Finance Officer and Financial Controls & Systems Manager as required.
Reporting to – Chief Finance Officer
Duties and Responsibilities:
⦁ Process creditor invoice payments, staff expense claims, direct debits, income received directly into the MAT bank and other similar transactions.
⦁ Process purchase orders and place orders in accordance with SB MAT procurement policies.
⦁ Filing and retrieval of invoices and financial information.
⦁ Scan purchase invoices and load into finance system.
⦁ Post funding income to the appropriate school ledger and reconcile to budgets/funding statements.
⦁ Ensure school income is recorded in line with trust procedures.
⦁ Month end processes including accruals, prepayments and deferred/accrued income.
⦁ Make supplier payments via BACS and cheques, ensuring all invoices are supported by appropriately approved purchase orders and GRNs prior to payment.
⦁ Query invoices with schools/suppliers where necessary.
⦁ Deal with payment enquiries from suppliers and check statements.
⦁ Process monthly salaries and on-costs for MAT schools and make the payments via BACS.
⦁ Preparation of monthly bank reconciliations.
⦁ Assist Financial Controls and Systems Manager in performing monthly control account reconciliations.
⦁ Assist Financial Controls and Systems Manager in the oversight of financial controls in the schools.
⦁ Assist the CFO in the budget setting process.
⦁ Assist the CFO in the monthly budget monitoring process with the schools.
⦁ Assist the CFO with preparation of documents for the annual external MAT audit.
⦁ Provide support and assistance to the Trust Principal in ad hoc projects including the oversight of the website.
⦁ Look for opportunities to increase financial efficiencies and obtain value for money.
⦁ Liaise with school-based finance staff to be sufficiently informed about school activity in order to provide an efficient and effective financial service.
⦁ Consistently look for ways of improving process efficiency and financial controls.
⦁ Provide general clerical support – photocopying, filing, faxing, etc.
⦁ To comply with all MAT policies and procedures.
⦁ To partake in any staff development activities required to effectively carry out the duties of the post and to participate in the MAT appraisal process.
⦁ Any other reasonable duties commensurate with the level of the post, which may be required from time to time.
⦁ To support the MAT’s values, aims and ethos in the carrying out of the role.
⦁ To maintain positive relationships with staff, Trustees, auditors and other stakeholders.
⦁ This post does not involve direct contact with children but is subject to an enhanced DBS check.
