Trust Statement on Coronavirus (COVID-19)

We continue to monitor the coronavirus (COVID-19) situation carefully as it develops and take full account of advice and guidance provided by Public Health England (PHE), City of York Council and other advisory bodies. Below is a summary of the actions we are taking and the preparations we are making for different eventualities:

Self-Isolation: New Advice
We expect staff and students to follow the government’s latest advice on self-isolation. That now includes people experiencing symptoms of fever (high temperature) or a new, persistent cough, who must stay at home for 7 days.

Anyone who meets the government’s criteria for self-isolation, including parents/carers and other family members, is asked not to attend school.

Meetings / Events

Any non-essential meetings and events may be postponed and people will be notified as appropriate.
We are following Public Health England advice on hygiene by encouraging children and staff to wash their hands regularly and before meal times.

Students and other school users are reminded to use tissues to catch coughs and sneezes, throwing tissues in the bin and to avoid touching their face.

Planning for closure
At the moment, the advice from Public Health England is for schools to remain open and for students to continue to attend school unless they are unwell. However, we have drawn up plans to cover the eventuality that schools are either fully or partially closed.

In the event that schools have to close, each school will advise of the arrangement for setting work for students.

At the moment, the advice from the government is to prepare for all 2020 exams as normal. We will continue to monitor the situation and plan for the different eventualities that may arise.
